Howco Environmental Services Transportation Department Overview

Howcos transportation department consist of three divisions, Recovery, Vacuum truck and transport. All new drivers will enter a 35 day training course that consist of 15 days training in recovery, 15 days training in the vacuum truck and 5 days training in transport. A qualified trainer will conduct all training. Once the training is completed the individual will be assigned or rotate between the 3 divisions.

Recovery:

The recovery division collects used oils, waste water, drummed used oil filters and absorbents.

Job duties and functions:

  • Pump liquids from various size tanks and containers using up to 80’ of 2” collection hose.
  • Remove 55 gallon drums (up to 400 lbs.) form customer’s location and offload at receiving facility.
  • Maneuver tractor / trailer in tight spots.
  • Working hours from early mornings to early evenings or until route is completed.
  • Work in inclement weather.
  • Interface with customers.
  • Maintain equipment and coordinate maintenance / repairs with management.
  • Complete required documentation using hand held electronic device.
  • Be able to work independently.
  • Train drivers

Vacuum Truck:

The vacuum truck division performs a wide variety of environmental work, including but not limited to storm and drain line cleaning, equipment wash down, cleaning of containment areas, tank cleanings, removing sludge’s and cleaning underground pits, sumps, trenches, floor drains, etc. The work is very physical and demanding.

Job duties and functions:

  • Operate single and dual compartment vacuum trucks.
  • Work in extreme conditions and in inclement weather.
  • Wear PPE to include but not limited to Tyvek suits, chemical resistant boots, hardhats, face shield and safety glasses and air purifying respirators.
  • Perform confine space entry work.
  • Offloading of product at receiving facility or disposal site, to include liquids and sludge’s.
  • Interface with customer.
  • Complete required documentation using hand held electronic device.
  • Maintain equipment and coordinate maintenance / repairs with management.
  • Maneuver vacuum truck in tight spots.
  • Working hours from early mornings to early evenings or until job is completed.
  • Train drivers

Transport

Transport services include but not limited to transportation of finished products to customers, transporting bulk liquids from customer location to Howcos receiving facilities, internal transfers between Howco facilities, transportation of drums using box trucks, transporting of rail and dump trailers to disposal sites.

  • Operate tractor / trailer tankers, box trucks, rail and dump trailers.
  • Work in extreme conditions and in inclement weather.
  • Offloading of product at receiving facility or disposal site, to include liquids, solids and sludge’s.
  • Complete required documentation using hand held electronic device.
  • Maintain equipment and coordinate maintenance / repairs with management.
  • Maneuver tractor / trailer tankers in tight spots.
  • Working hours from early mornings to early evenings or until job is completed.
  • Connecting and disconnecting hose to and from tanks.
  • Train drivers
